Brad R. Cook and David Alan Lucas are not only your instructors, but authors themselves.
Brad R. Cook learned to fence at thirteen and never set down his sword, but prefers to curl up with his cat and a centuries’ old classic. A former co-publisher and Acquisitions Editor for Blank Slate Press, he is a member of SCBWI, and currently serves as Historian of St. Louis Writers Guild after three and half years as President. Brad is an author of Historical Fantasy and of The Iron Chronicles Trilogy (Treehouse Publishing Group).
David Alan Lucas is a Yodan (Fourth Degree Black Belt) in Tracy’s Kenpo, President of St. Louis Writers Guild and of Winding Trails Media, a start-up audio production company. Over the years he has studied and incorporated many combat arts into his personal style, but Kenpo, which he has studied since age 10, remains his base. In his late twenties, he learned Olympic style fencing, Colonial time period style dueling, and tomahawk fighting/throwing while re-enacting the French-Indian and American Revolution.
David is a published author of short stories, poems and articles—most on self-defense and writing fight scenes, and does voice acting for commercials, animation, and audio book narration. Currently, he is working on a series of speculative-psychological thriller fiction novels that will be available in 2018, but has also written in mystery, horror, and science fiction genres.
